New Journey


Thank you for joining me on this new journey! I didn't originally have any intention of sharing these things publicly, but recently felt prompted to do so. I hope that means I might be able to help someone that comes across my blog. I decided to name it "Be Still and Know" because that scripture statement has become part of who I am during the last year of my life and I think it encompasses perfectly what God continues to speak to my heart.

In case you don't know me:
My name is Kami Skolmoski, I'm 20 years old, and I grew up in Riverton, UT. I come from a family of 6 with 3 sisters, Hailey, Emilee, and Abby. My amazing parents are Paul and Tina and together we make up a pretty average family.
I've always been a pretty well-rounded person so I grew up doing all kinds of sports and hobbies. My favorites now include painting, singing, reading, and volleyball. I'm not always the greatest with words, but we're gonna practice.
I served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the California Carlsbad Mission and later the California Newport Beach Mission when my first mission combined with other surrounding missions. I had 9 incredible companions, 6 areas, and met people I will never forget, along with experiences that will forever be in my heart. I returned home after 15 months for some personal struggles that I will share more about in coming posts.

As difficult as life gets and as unexpected as it may be, I find so much peace in my Savior, Jesus Christ. Knowing that He is so aware of me and those that I love is what helps me keep going when my own efforts fail. He really is my strength and my song and in Him, I can be still and know that I am not alone and He knows me perfectly. I hope anyone else out there with similar struggles or experiences will feel that assurance as well as I go about this journey with you and share my testimony along the way.

 It has been a super long time since I've shared anything here and I don't have a solid reason for that except that I haven't felt like I've had anything worthwhile to say. Past The Shallow

    It has been a second since I've shared anything on here. I just couldn't find my voice for so many things I want to say. There is always something that I can't quite articulate, but I found one thing that I have enough words for that I hope will have meaning to someone else.      I took this picture a year and a half ago in Northern California. The sea has always been fascinating to me and I love the beach. The sound of the waves and the sand in my toes, there is just nothing like it. As I was looking back on my social media in my pictures I came across it and started thinking. The water is so different up by the rocks where it isn't as deep. Further out past the shore it is smooth and endless. As much as I love the ocean, I am often terrified of the immensity and vastness of it. The Field

January 26th, 2018 I had been so anxiously awaiting the arrival of a big white envelope that would contain my call and assignment to serve for almost 3 weeks. I was studying at Utah State University at the time and I remember sitting in class one Thursday morning when I got a video from my mom. I opened it without thinking and saw that big white envelope and almost screamed in an auditorium of 400 students. I couldn't get back to Riverton to open it until the following day since I was still in school so by the next morning I was dying. Literally the minute my classes got out I was on the road toward home. A close friend who was already serving a mission recommended that before I got my call I should start praying to love the people of my mission, wherever it would be.
